Collin County · about 20 minutes to the shop
Plano has franchised stores for most of the brands we work on within a few miles, so a Plano owner who drives down US-75 to east Dallas has usually been quoted a module job and wants a second route to the fix.
Factory tools for eight brands, repairs covered by a 2-year/24,000-mile warranty
Plano
Plano runs on two spines. The Tollway corridor on the west side holds Legacy West, The Shops at Legacy and the corporate campuses in 75024 and 75093. US-75 on the east side threads Downtown Plano, Plano Market Square and the older 75074 and 75075 neighborhoods.
West Plano garages are full-size European SUVs bought or leased new: X5, X7, GLE, GLS, Q7, Cayenne, Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, with Macan and GLC as the second car. Those platforms live on air suspension and a long list of control units, so the faults that reach us are compressors that run forever, valve blocks that drop a corner overnight, or body modules that fall off the bus after a battery sat flat.
East Plano and the Downtown Plano streets near the DART station look different: 3 Series, C-Class, A4 and Jetta bought at three to six years old. Here the work is keys, battery registration, DSG and ZF 8HP fluid services, and the odd used module when a FEM or a SAM gives up.
Franchised stores for these brands sit inside Plano and along the US-75 and Tollway corridors to its north and south, closer to most Plano homes than we are. People still make the drive because the module quote they received assumed a new part and dealer labor.
From Downtown Plano or the Parker Road station area, US-75 south to I-635 east and the Northwest Highway exit is about twenty minutes when the freeway is clear, then Ferguson Road south to the shop. Between 7 and 9 in the morning US-75 below the High Five slows.
Legacy West and the west Plano neighborhoods have a longer line: the Tollway south to I-635, then east across the top of Dallas to Northwest Highway, 25 to 35 minutes.
Air suspension is the headline. GLS and GLE Airmatic, X5 and X7 rear air, Q7 and Cayenne four-corner systems, and Range Rover EAS fail the same way: a corner down in the morning and a compressor working overtime. After the mechanical repair the system needs a calibration and a height write with XENTRY, ISTA, ODIS, PIWIS or Pathfinder, which is the step a general shop leaves out.
Behind that come the electronic failures that only a factory tool can resolve: a Cayenne gateway that drops the whole bus, a Range Rover body control module with a corrupted configuration, and Mercedes SCN coding when a conductor plate or an ESL is replaced.
The quote is usually the reason. A new BCM, EIS or DME with dealer programming lands as a single large figure. We split the job into the module, which can be new, remanufactured or used depending on the platform, and the programming and coding labor, which is published as a range.
The second reason is that one shop covers the whole driveway. A Legacy household with a Range Rover, a Cayenne and an A4 would otherwise book three service departments; here SDD, PIWIS and ODIS sit on one cart. Programming jobs are covered by the 2 years parts and 2 years labor, up to 24,000 miles, nationwide warranty.
Many Plano owners ride down with a family member. Rail is possible, with the Blue Line from White Rock Station to Mockingbird and a Red Line connection north to Parker Road, though it takes over an hour.
Because the trip is a commitment, we group the work so the car makes one trip whenever the part can be confirmed before you leave Plano. If a module must be ordered to the VIN, the car can stay inside until it is programmed and road-tested.

Questions
Usually because of the module quote in your hand. Our programming and coding labor is a published range, and the module itself can be new, remanufactured or used where the platform allows, which is a path the dealer does not offer.
Yes. Height calibration, compressor duty checks and valve block tests run through Pathfinder, XENTRY, ISTA, ODIS or PIWIS depending on the brand, and the repair is not finished until the car sits level and the system holds overnight.
Before 7 or after 9:30 the run down US-75 and I-635 stays near twenty minutes; in between it stretches past forty. Weekday hours are Mon-Fri: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM, and a text the day before holds a morning bay for you.
Often, with conditions. Porsche and BMW units can be reprogrammed to a new VIN on most platforms, while some Mercedes and VAG modules carry protection that makes a used part impractical. We check the part number and platform rules first and quote both routes.
